MLK Jr.'s prophetic words from Birmingham jail in...
There was a time when the church was very powerful—in the time when the early Christians rejoiced at being deemed worthy to suffer for what they believed. In those days the church was not merely a thermometer that recorded the ideas and principles of popular opinion; it was a thermostat that transformed the mores of society… . But the judgment of God is upon the church [today] as never...

Planting A Gospel>Community: Everyday Contexts →
joshreeves:
Life has a variety of contexts. Contexts are the surroundings or environments that all of us live in. We believe that Jesus is Lord over all contexts of life. To help us see how Jesus transforms each context of life, we speak of everyday contexts. Everyday contexts include a variety of…

A New Book
I have been talking with a lot of people recently about all of the changes that are taking place at once in me and Sami’s life. When talking with a friend about it a few nights ago I made the comment that the last few months have been an exciting and scary “new chapter” for us. After making this comment my friend looked at me and said, “bro, this isn’t a new chapter...

An Eventful Weekend
On Friday Sami and I came out of hibernation after a week long arctic blast of snow, wind, and single digit temperatures that hit Lubbock. We headed down to Hondo, TX for my cousin Jami’s wedding. It was a great privilege to be able to officiate Jami and Clayton’s wedding. We had a blast spending time with my family and even did a little dancing at the wedding. Here are some shots from...

Why I Love My Church
I love my church. My church goes by the name Redeemer, but that doesn’t even begin to define her. Incase you are reading this and you don’t know the story on Redeemer here is the short version. Redeemer was planted in Lubbock a little under 3 years ago. Our commitment is to be centered on the Gospel in all we do, and to be a missional family in our city and beyond. God has grown us in...

Every year Texas Tech host “Carol of Light”, where the tech choir and orchestra perform carols in the center of campus. At the end of the event the campus is light up with Christmas lights. It’s a really great time and great red raider tradition!

4 Miles
That’s how many I ran this morning. So far, that’s my longest run and it felt pretty darn good. For some one who has never been much of a runner I feel pretty good about where I’m at with 99 days left until my half marathon.
My best friend was in town today and made the run with me. I’ve decided I really like running when I’m having great conversation the whole...

Voices of the people of Myanmar →
I spent the summer of 2006 backpacking across this country. During that summer I fell in love with the great people of this country. I witnessed first hand the oppression and injustice that the minority ethnic groups of Burma face. Hear are a few of the voiced from among these beautiful people during a crucial time in the political realm of this country.
Really moving stuff.

So, I’ve been playing around with iMovies on my iPhone. Here is a video I put together using some shots I took during the Tech v. Missouri game last Saturday night in Lubbock.
Hope you enjoy some of the sights and sounds from the game, although the video is pretty JV.
Thanks to Jeff Jenkins for inviting me and Josh to watch the game from his office. Sweet place to watch a game!
Christ-like Obedience
What is Christ-like obedience? This is a question that I posed to a group of college students that I meet with weekly. I got some really great responses from these guys. One of the responses really stood out to me and has been in my mind all week. My friend answered brilliantly saying, “Christ-like obedience is the pursuit of Jesus in all things in this life, even when it costs you comfort,...
